The HBMA Certification Committee is proud to announce that the new format of the CHBME Exam will be offered for the first time at HBMA 2018: The Healthcare Revenue Cycle Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.
After achieving the required educational credits within the three-year period of time, candidates must pass a multiple-choice written exam administered in a single two hour time frame. Candidates must register to take the test no later than 1 week prior to the testing date. The test will consist of at least 75 questions that will be randomly selected from a pool of questions covering information found in the CHBME Content Outline. Any notes as well as any electronic device(s) such as cell phones, iPads, etc. will not be allowed in the testing room.
Test scoring will be completed by the HBMA National Office staff. Within eight weeks of sitting for the examination, candidates will be notified in writing of their results. For security reasons, results will not be given over the phone or sent by fax or email. The CHBME final exam will be administered at regularly scheduled HBMA Conferences throughout the U.S. and will also be offered throughout the year via a proctoring process beginning in early 2019.
A candidate may sit for the final examination only once during each calendar year. Repeat candidates shall submit a reexamination testing fee, identical to the initial testing fee, and shall submit proof of ongoing fulfillment of the eligibility requirements in effect at the time of the test administration.
If you have any questions about the test itself, please contact the HBMA National Office.
