CHBME Exam - HBMA Store

HBMA will be holding CHBME exams at our in person events in 2023. Participants will be given two hours to complete the exam in its entirety.

Participants will need to:

  • Sign up for the exam no less than two weeks prior to the event via the registration below.
  • Arrive on time as communicated when instructions are sent out.
  • Bring with them a writing utensil (pencil is recommended).
  • Bring a photo ID that matches the name on your HBMA account and registration.

Testing:

After achieving the required educational credits within the three-year period of time, candidates must pass a multiple-choice written exam administered in a single two hour time frame. Candidates must register to take the test no later than 1 week prior to the testing date. The test will consist of at least 75 questions that will be randomly selected from a pool of questions covering information found in the CHBME Content Outline. Any notes as well as any electronic device(s) such as cell phones, iPads, etc. will not be allowed in the testing room.

Test scoring will be completed by the HBMA National Office staff. Within eight weeks of sitting for the examination, candidates will be notified in writing of their results. For security reasons, results will not be given over the phone or sent by fax or email. The CHBME final exam will be administered at regularly scheduled HBMA Conferences throughout the U.S.

Retesting:
A candidate may sit for the final examination only once during each calendar year. Repeat candidates shall submit a reexamination testing fee, identical to the initial testing fee, and shall submit proof of ongoing fulfillment of the eligibility requirements in effect at the time of the test administration.

If you have any questions about the test itself, please contact the HBMA National Office.
