Description:
This webinar will explain how remote medical billing and healthcare teams can remain compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act while handling protected health information outside of a traditional office setting.

Attendees will learn the key administrative, technical, and physical safeguards required under the HIPAA Security Rule, along with practical strategies to reduce cybersecurity risks and prevent costly breaches in a remote work environment.

  • Identify safeguard requirements under the HIPAA Security Rule and how to manage them in the remote work environment
  • Evaluate common compliance and cybersecurity risks for remote teams.
  • Implement practical policies, risk mitigation strategies, and monitoring practices to strengthen HIPAA Compliance

Speaker Bio:
Nicole Statley has spent the last 19 years in the healthcare management industry. She has been involved in a little bit of everything including clearinghouse management, medical billing, coding, auditing and compliance. She currently has Certified Professional Certificates in Compliance, Medical Auditing, and Coding. She is passionate about helping organizations to not only be compliant but to feel supported in their compliance efforts.

Jacob (Jake) Yates is the Account Manager at Healthcare Compliance Pros (HCP). He specializes in Risk Management, RAPS and EDS claims submissions, Medicare, and general healthcare compliance. Prior to joining HCP, Jake worked as a National Account Manager for CIOX Health and as a Client Service Executive Manager at Cotiviti, Inc. During his time at CIOX and Cotiviti he worked with many clients,including three of the top 10 largest U.S. Health Insurance Plans on their Medicare Advantage, HEDIS,and RADV audits.

Jake has first-hand experience handling OIG audits and compliance, including a health insurance company caught over coding and over billing the CMS for services provided to their members. The insurance company was fined over $7 million as a result. During his time at HCP, he has helped hundreds of organizations avoid audits and extensive fines for non-compliance from the OCR, OSHA, and the OIG. He continues to find new ways of protecting clients from fines and audits as he actively participates with the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) and other professional organizations. He is currently working towards two additional compliance and privacy licensures with the HCCA and the ISC.

Jake has a Bachelor Degree of Social Work from the University of Utah and a Master of BusinessAdministration and Healthcare Management degree from Western Governor’s University. In addition, he is a Certified Healthcare Compliance Professional, and has certifications in Project Management and LeanSix Sigma.
