CMS Breaks Silence on ICD-10
A recent article on ICD10monitor.com discusses the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) response to the delay in ICD-10 implementation. The article highlights comments CMS' Denise Buenning told members of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) during an April meeting.
"The delay is not a killer for ICD-10," Buenning said, adding, "I think we were as surprised as all of you."
Buenning stated that CMS is discussing the delay with the Department of Health and Human Services, which should be making an announcement soon. In the meantime, CMS is sticking to its regular schedule of ICD-10 meetings. Buenning also fielded questions regarding rumors that CMS was not ready for the 2014 implementation, its plans for end-to-end testing and more.
