AI from the Healthcare Business Perspective Presented by Samuel Waissman
Description:
In 2023, AI has become one of the hottest topics, in the first 10 months of 2023 web searches tripled and reached over 30.4 million searches in March alone (1). AI offers the promise of revolutionizing business processes with automation and sophistication. It can automate tasks that were previously challenging, such as authorization & denial follow ups, contact center interactions, complex coding challenges, and real-time recommendations.

However, simply acquiring AI technology is not enough for success. Businesses need to go beyond technical implementation and consider the impact on people, processes, and tools.

This chat will focus on a business-centric approach to AI. We will discuss the factors businesses should consider before, during, and after implementing AI. Drawing on industry best practices and proven knowledge, we will explore how businesses can prepare themselves to fully leverage AI, mitigate risks, and ultimately reap its benefits.

Panel: A Day in the AI Life: A View of the Future of RCM Presented by Kyle Tucker
Panel Members: Keven McDonald, Michael Brozino, & Steven Lassig

Description:
This session will peer into the RCM crystal ball and envision a day in the life of an RCM executive once AI is fully realized.

The first portion of our session will be set in the future where an RCM executive speaks with his AI-controlled billing software via an Alexa-like speaker.  We will enact what we feel are potential interactions with the computer asking it to perform certain tasks, giving us updates, and changing actions based on its learning. We will look bring KPIs into the discussion with the computer so that people will be confronted with the game-changing nature of this technology.

The second portion of the session will be a panel discussion of the reality of what is available to today and the viability of the future we have just explored.

Revolutionizing Revenue Cycle: The Synergy of Medical Coding and Future Technology Presented by Kyle Tucker & Michael Brozino
Description:
Healthcare providers face the challenges of rising operational costs, which threaten financial stability, and under staffing that results in slower claims processing, decreased reimbursements, and increased denials. In 2019, the US reported $28.9B in improper payments, accounting for 7.25% of all payments. Alarmingly, about 23% of claims are denied, lost, or overlooked, with the average cost for a provider to appeal or address a denial standing at $118.

Innovative revenue cycle solutions are needed to address these challenges today.

In this session, we will delve into the forefront of technology tailored to tackle the challenges of Medical Coding. We will make the distinctions between Computer Assisted Coding and Autonomous Medical Coding, elaborate the unique features and terminology associated with Autonomous Medical Coding, and explore the benefits of integrating an Autonomous Medical Coding platform.

Objectives:
Course participants will be able to:

  1. Navigate the dynamic landscape where Medical Coding and Autonomous Medical Coding platforms converge
  2. Evaluate the benefits and challenges of integrating generative AI into the medical coding processes
  3. Empowered to make informed decisions that drive innovation in the revenue cycle process
