5010 Transaction Testing: Where are the Payers?Wednesday, October 13th 2010 2:33 pm
In an article that appeared in the September 13 issue of For the Record magazine, Editor-in-Chief Lee DeOrio asked HBMA’s ICD-10 Committee for its take on why only a small number of providers have begun testing for 5010 transactions. Committee Chair Holly Louie offered, “Even if HBMA members and our software vendors are prepared to meet the deadlines and are ready to test internally, there is no one to test with. Based on some budgetary constraints, some Medicaid plans do not believe they will meet the deadlines. The fact that there are no mandatory phased testing and/or contingency plan for problems is very concerning.”
ICD-10 Committee Member Jerry Killough added, “My company has been ready to test 5010 since April and only recently had our first test. The point is that there may be health plans out there that are ready to test, but it is darn difficult to identify them.” To read more on this topic, visit www.fortherecordmag.com.
