Payor Relations Committee. Committee work provided another level of involvement and opportunity for education and information and to contribute to an association that helped me by providing a solid foundation of information in the early days of advantedge. I have shared this experience with many HBma members over the years to encourage attendance at on-site educational conferences to compliment what members are able to receive by logging on to hbma.org. Today, HBma offers many types of educational venues, including on-site website content; the listserv; audio and video conferences; and a billing certification program that tests your business competency. Watch for exciting changes in 2014 to our educational offerings. Oh, and don’t forget committee work… just ask amy Redmond, mick Polo, or others who are on committees. Now let’s find out about you. Where are you from and where do you live? I grew up in northern Indiana in a family of five siblings: three boys and two girls. We were fortunate to grow up in a time where stay-at-home moms were the norm. Today, my husband (a Hoosier also) and I live in New Jersey. We have been happily married for over 40 years and never had a fight… well, almost never. Do you have any hobbies and outside interests? Boy, do I have hobbies and interests. I have enjoyed the outdoors since my youth, so golf was one of my first interests. my husband and I and several neighbors had a standing weekly round for over 20 years. Did I mention I am adventurous too? In 1986 I received my “ticket” (a private pilot’s license) and owned my own plane, a Piper Cherokee 180, for many years. On occasion, I even used to fly to sales prospects or client appointments, which created interesting conversation. Travel is another interest of mine. For many years we traveled outside the u.s., visiting most of the Caribbean islands and mexico, then graduated to other areas of the world including Portugal, spain, Belgium, Netherlands, germany, France, Corsica, elba, Italy, Capri, sicily, malta, greece, Turkey, uK, Ireland, Norway, Finland, Tahiti, Bora Bora, moorea, and China. more recently, my sister, her husband, my husband, and I have made our national parks the focus of our travels. We have visited 17 parks and have made it a point to stay in the original lodge in the park. The most impressive park hotel was the ahwahnee Hotel at Yosemite and the most interesting was Old Faithful Inn, a multi-story log cabin, at Yellowstone. Thank you Jeanne! We appreciate learning about our new president. 10 HBma BILLINg • JaNuaRY.FeBRuaRY.2014 HBMA Remembers During the month of October, HBma lost a dear friend and long-time member and volunteer, Lyle evans.
